Voices from the Heart Fall Concert
Celebrate the fall with Voices from the Heart! Voices celebrates fall ; singing and dancing songs of freedom, peace, joy and of course, love! Don’t miss Voices from the Heart’s fall concert November 18 at South Church , 292 State St in Portsmouth at 4:00 and 7:30 ! “We can’t stop singing these terrific songs from South African, Gospel, and Native American traditions. We’re singing songs that keep us dancing, moving, and moved !,”exclaims Voices’ Director, Joanne Connolly. “We’ve also dug into some terrific songs by young women singer-songwriters from California to Canada….great music and inspiring lyrics! And, dancing! There’ll be some great African dance, choreographed by Liz Fowler, and inspired by South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir.”
“Voices had the honor of singing with the Soweto Gospel Choir at the Portsmouth Music Hall a few years ago…so amazing!,” explains Connolly. “And now so wonderful to sing a South African song made famous by them at this concert, Hlonolofatsa ! Our voices and spirits still resonate with all the wonderful experiences we had on our last concert tour across South Africa, singing with so many inspiring groups there”
Randy Armstrong will be on hand on November 18 to offer the world beat for the dancing and singing, along with Kent Allyn on keys and Jonathan Booth on bass!
