The Pumpkin Spice Index

Lifestyle

There was a time, long ago, when pumpkin-flavored treats were scarce. That time is no more. In the time it takes to make a latte, pumpkin-spice flavored foods and drinks went from a ubiquitous autumn delight to a standard October punchline, so much so that it may be trendier to eschew pumpkins and spice in the fall.

But then we wondered: how many pumpkin-flavored items are being served in the Seacoast? To find out, we teamed up with University of New Hampshire journalism instructor Meg Heckman and her class of digital reporting students to map out some of the region’s most notable pumpkin coffees, breads, whoopie pies, salads, martinis, and everything else.
