Mariee Siou at The Press Room

Since her cult-classic debut album “Faces in the Rocks” came out in 2007, Mariee Siou has become a fixture of the neo-folk scene. She now tours the United States and Europe extensively, and she’ll make a stop at The Press Room in Portsmouth with opener Donnie CoCo on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-$25. Learn more here.

Kat Edmonson x 2 at Jimmy’s

Award-winning songwriter and singer Kat Edmonson, known for her distinct blend of jazz, cabaret, and vintage pop, will bring her band to the Seacoast for a pair of back-to-back concerts at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth on Friday. Live music on the Button Factory Stage

WSCA Radio in Portsmouth will host a Dolphin Squad deejay party featuring Jaden Lester, DJ Chad Banks, and Mixmaster Evan on the Button Factory Stage Friday from 7-10 p.m. The following night, local roots-rock band Truck Stop Messiah performs with opener Dave Hunter from 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $10-$15. “Gruesome Playground Injuries” at the Ring

Next up at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth is an unconventional drama that tells a different kind of love story. Rajiv Joseph’s “Gruesome Playground Injuries” is on stage Feb.28-March 16; show times are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $26-$29. Two concerts at 3S Artspace

A couple of stellar shows are coming to 3S Artspace in Portsmouth this weekend. Rising New York indie band Melt brings its Plant the Garden Tour to town with opener Léa the Leox on Friday from 8-11 p.m. ($20-$25). One-man-band The Suitcase Junket follows with opener Cloudbelly on Saturday from 8-11 p.m. ($20-$35).

Party on at The Stone Church

Party all weekend long at The Stone Church in Newmarket. Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket gets things started with a night of funk, soul, and urban fusion on Friday from 8-11 p.m. ($15-$20). Local favorites Truffle follow with their annual Party Gras concert featuring the Hot Tamale Horn Duo on Saturday from 7-11 p.m. ($20-$25). Learn more here.

David Howley at The Word Barn

Award-winning Irish folk musician David Howley is best known as founder of acclaimed “Celtgrass” band We Banjo 3, but he’s also performed with renowned artists like Billy Strings, Mumford & Sons, and The Chieftains. Saturday night comedy on the Seacoast

Saturday night is for laughter. The Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket will host a March Madness Comedy Show featuring comics Mitch Stinson, Greg Howell, David Twohig, and musical opener Tim Bear from 7-10:30 p.m. ($25). McCue’s Comedy Club in Portsmouth hosts comic legend Ken Rogerson from 8-9:30 p.m. ($25).

440 Gypsy Jazz Quartet at The Dance Hall

It’ll be a hot night of music at The Dance Hall in Kittery on Saturday night. The 440 Gypsy Jazz Quartet expands on the gypsy jazz traditions of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli with the swinging sounds of the 1930s and ’40s. They’ll have the audience’s feet tapping from 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets are $10-$22. Learn more here.

Elvis Costello at The Music Hall
