“Sojourner Stories” at Pontine Theatre
Pontine Theatre’s next production combines three stories by noted New England authors. On stage through March 30 in Portsmouth, “Sojourner Stories” features adaptations of Sarah Orne Jewett’s “A White Heron,” Alice Brown’s “Farmer Eli’s Vacation,” and Robert Frost’s “The Star-Splitter.” Tickets are $29-$32. With his memorable roles in shows like “Happy Days,” “Barry” and “Arrested Development,” beloved actor Henry Winkler has some stories. Known for her powerful voice and haunting songs, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light will perform at The Dance Hall in Kittery on Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. ($10-$22). Upside Arts: “Big Fish” at NHTP
Tickets are running mighty low for Upside Arts’ upcoming production of “Big Fish.” Based on Daniel Wallace’s celebrated novel and Tim Burton’s subsequent hit film, the humorous and fantastical show is on stage at New Hampshire Theatre Project in Portsmouth through March 23. St. Patty’s Weekend will be loaded with laughter at McCue’s Comedy Club in Portsmouth. The man himself, Jim McCue, headlines with sidekick Liam Hales on Friday from 8-9:30 p.m. Boston-based comedy veteran Jack Lynch (pictured) follows with Hales and Jim Bishop on Saturday from 8-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. Three shows at The Stone Church
Local folk-rock favorite The Kenny Brothers Band kicks off a packed weekend at The Stone Church in Newmarket with opener Todd Hearon on Friday from 8-11 p.m. ($15-$20). Local violinist and singer Joyce Andersen plays upstairs in Althea’s Lounge for the Ides of March on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. ($15-$20). Harry Prichett Workshop at the KAA
Back by popular demand, veteran New York City improv actor Harry Prichett returns to the Kittery Art Association this weekend to lead a multi-disciplinary workshop titled Say “Yes” to Your Creativity: Introduction to the Principles of Improvisation. Two highly accomplished singer-songwriters and guitarists will join forces for an intimate live show at Milk St. Studios in Dover on Saturday night.
