Three concerts at The Word Barn

Singer-songwriters Willy Porter and Tom Pirozzoli join forces for a special double-bill evening at The Word Barn in Exeter on Friday from 7-9 p.m. ($25). Fiddles will be flying on Saturday when string acts Old Hat Stringband and Micah John & Lillian Chase share the stage from 7-9 p.m. ($25). “A Funny Thing Happened…” at the Ring

In the new show at The Players’ Ring, a struggling comic and a wealthy divorcée share a hospital room with their cancer-stricken mothers. The full title (deep breath) is “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York City.” Directed by Christine Penney, it’s on stage in Portsmouth from March 28 through April 13. Standup comedy in Portsmouth

Maine’s favorite comedian Bob Marley will be in Portsmouth this weekend for three standup shows at The Music Hall: Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday at 8 p.m. ($41). Also on Saturday, Boston comic Dan Crohn headlines a night of standup at McCue’s Comedy Club with guests Big D, Mike Gray, and Liam Hales ($25).
Boston Dance Theatre at 3S Artspace

Enjoy an evening of short dance works presenting multi-faced expressions of love, longing, and the fight to live, all woven together by the color red. The Modern Fools (pictured) bring their brand of “Cosmic Americana” to The Dance Hall in Kittery for a show with special guest Coyote Smoke on Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. ($10-$20). Portland-based string trio Darlin’ Corey headlines with local opener High Range on Saturday from 7:30-9 p.m. ($12-$25). “The Wedding Singer” at the Rep

One of New Hampshire native Adam Sandler’s hit films is bringing the neon glory of the ’80s to the stage in Portsmouth. Set in New Jersey in 1985, the hilarious and heartwarming musical comedy “The Wedding Singer” is at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre from March 27 through May 4. Tickets are $42.50-$73.
