A rainy Halloween makes way for what should be a pleasant weekend with plenty to do on the Seacoast. Here are some highlights.
‘More or Less’ at the NHAA

A total of 75 artworks in all mediums will be on display at the New Hampshire Art Association’s 20th annual Joan L. Dunfey open juried exhibition this month at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth. “More or Less” opens with a reception on Friday, Nov. 1, from 5-8 p.m., during the monthly Art ’Round Town gallery walk. Best of Taste Bash 2019

More than 50 area restaurants will serve up dishes to be paired with fine wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails during Taste of the Seacoast’s ninth annual Best of Taste Bash. The event moves to a new location this year at the Portsmouth Harbor Events Center on Friday, Nov. 1, from 7-9:30 p.m. Best of Taste winners will be announced. ‘Or Current Resident’ at the Ring

The next show at The Players’ Ring in Portsmouth tells the story of a family that moves into a house in Silicon Valley, unknowingly displacing a family of three generations that could no longer afford the rising rent. Based on the real-life experiences of playwright Joan Bigwood, “Or Current Resident” is on stage Nov. 1-17 at the Ring. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $16-$20. Learn more here.
GA-20 Album Release Show

As of Thursday, GA-20’s new record, “Lonely Soul,” ranked #2 on the Billboard blues chart, behind only Keb Mo’s latest release. The Boston-based band, rooted around the guitar duo of Pat Faherty and Matthew Stubbs, brings its debut album to The Press Room in Portsmouth for a release show on Friday, Nov. 1, at 9 p.m. Singer-songwriter Jesse Dee, another act out of Boston, opens the show in Portsmouth. Sue’s Halloween Cover Show

Sue’s Space in Rollinsford is extending the Halloween reverie into the weekend. The venue in the Salmon Falls Mills hosts its annual Halloween Cover Show on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Performers will cover songs by The Cars, Black Sabbath, The Beach Boys, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sufjan Stevens, and others. There will also be a costume contest, a dance party, and a candy and pizza potluck. There is a $5-$10 suggested donations. Learn more here.
