Happy Thanksgiving! Here are some of the top events coming up over the holiday weekend, all signifying the season.

The weekend after Thanksgiving is when local theater companies start rolling out their holiday productions. Among the highlights on stage in Portsmouth this weekend are the original musical “Some Holiday” at The Players’ Ring (Nov. 22-Dec. 1; $16-$20), “Annie” at The Music Hall (Nov. 27-Dec. 22; $45-$99), Pontine Theatre’s “A New England Christmas” at The Plains School (Nov. 29-Dec. 8; $24-$27), and Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol The Musical” at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre (Nov. 29-Dec. 18; $22-$44).

‘Winterland’ at Cisco Brewers

Cisco Brewers is teaming up with Teton Gravity Research (TGR) to throw a winter kick-off party in Portsmouth. TGR will screen its new feature-length ski and snowboard film, “Winterland,” on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, from 7-9 p.m. There will be prize giveaways and a chance at the tour grand prizes, which include trips to Sierra Nevada’s beer camp in California and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Tribute for Tots at the Brickhouse

Four local acts will play sets of songs by their rock ’n’ roll heroes at the Toys for Tots Tribute show at the Dover Brickhouse on Friday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. The lineup includes Them Talking Monkeys (John Mellencamp), Watts (Tom Petty), Tim Theriault (Neil Young) and a supergroup composed of members of Gazpacho, Watts, and The Ride (KISS). Truffle Thanksgiving Show

Long-time local favorites Truffle will help guests burn off some post-feast calories with their annual Thanksgiving Show this weekend. TurkeyJam 2019 takes place at The Stone Church in Newmarket on Friday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. Attendees can dance to the band’s soulful New Orleans-flavored roots-rock and blues music throughout the night. Truffle, led by Dave Gerard, has been gigging heavily around the region and beyond since 1986. Tickets are $12. For more information, click here.

Art on the Hill Open Studios

Art on the Hill Open Studios

More than 30 artists will share their work at the annual Art on the Hill Open Studios event in Kittery on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Among the offerings will be paintings, jewelry, fabric art, pottery, ceramics, and more, all spread across three floors of studios.
